Julie Gravelle, MEd Julie Gravelle is a writing specialist hired specifically to work with students and faculty to improve writing skills and to develop a uniform, comprehensive rubric that evaluates writing skills and provides specific feedback for improving these skills. Julie has a degree in Journalism and comes with twelve years of professional writing experience at daily newspapers, and five years of classroom teaching experience. In addition to her degree training and twelve years of writing experience, Julie’s years as a newspaper reporter on the Native American beat and immersion in the Salish Kootenai College has sensitized her to the perspective of indigenous people and how that translates into a writing genre of its own. Appreciating and honoring the oral tradition of Native Americans, she feels strongly that the students need to appreciate that their professional success depends on being able to write with proficiency. She is committed to developing those skills with the students at SKC. |
